5th Southern Scattering School on Polymers
Jul 15-17, 2024
School of Polymer Science and Engineering, USM

Overview:
This school will provide a practical guide for students in the Southeast US region to access the state of art X-ray tool at the USM. This school will cover several important X-ray scattering techniques including small angle scattering, wide-angle scattering, grazing incident thin-film scattering. The school will address topics that are not commonly included in textbooks or class lectures, and typically obtained only through hand-on training. The topic will be covered including:
-
a session of scattering/diffraction theory
-
hands-on sessions at Xenocs SAXS/WAXS
-
a session on scattering/diffraction data analysis
-
the lecture will be recorded and provided for student's future reference ( new feature)

Expected outcome:
Students will be able to understand the fundamentals of X-ray scattering, operate the instrument at various scattering geometry and perform simple data analysis.

The workshop is free of charge for student and faculty.
